New Jewelry and Updates

It's been quite some time since I've updated the blog. Having two real jobs in addition to my online business has kept me pretty busy.
I've had some crazy success with my line of Regretsy-themed jewelry. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the site, it is a blog (started by April Winchell) that showcases the many oddities that can be found on Etsy. Here is the "Say What" necklace, using the image from a painting by Denny Pinkham that was featured on Regretsy. My Regretsy-themed jewelry can be purchased HERE.

In more recent news: I've begun working with Melody Sanchez Wolfe (Belizean Melody) on a unique line of jewelry, which features her beautiful artwork. They will soon be offered for sale in her gallery on Ambergris Caye in Belize. More details to follow. These items can be viewed and purchased from my website..

I've also been working with another resident (tacogirl Belize)of Belize on a line of jewelry which features photographs that she has taken on Ambergris Caye. These items can also be purchased from my website.

Silja (http://www.5erg.com) was kind enough to send me a picture of herself wearing the Octopus pendant she won from my recent giveaway.

After the giveaway, I started looking at Silja's shop and really loved her work. I asked her if she would allow me to use her art to make some necklaces for my shop. She agreed, and I got to work immediately. Here is the result of the first set of pendants I made, using Silja's work.

Life seems to have stopped recently for me. My beautiful little girl, Gizmo, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday.

It's all that's on my mind. So when I sat down to post a new blog entry, all I can think to say is how much I miss her and how empty life feels without this wonderful friend by my side.

Upcycled Bottle Pendant Light

I haven't updated the blog in a few days. With two jobs, this blog, the etsy co-op site, and my shop, I have been feeling a bit over-worked. I took a little bit of time away to work on some new items for the shop.

Today I made this light. It's constructed from a large plastic bleach bottle. I had considered adding a retro pattern to it to add some color. I'm looking for some suggestions. Leave it alone or brighten it up?

New Website for Etsy Sellers

I created a website where Etsy sellers can share booth space at arts and craft fairs. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about paying a huge fee AND having to buy a tent, tables, and other display items? You can split the cost of the application fees and pool your equipment to cut your overhead costs.

And if you aren't able to spend an entire weekend at a craft fair, you could arrange to split up the days.

In addition to saving and therefore MAKING more money, you will have an interesting mix of items displayed to draw more people. Buyers are much more likely to visit a booth with a variety of items.

Any way you look at it, it means more money in your pocket.

I have placed some free ads on there from this blog to give the site a more full feel. I am offering paid advertising (to make this site worth the very LONG hours I am putting into it). I will phase out the free ads as I begin selling the paid ads.

I have the Event Postings section set up as a blog with a menu on the side where you can choose your state to view posted events. You can then post comments for events stating that you hope to share a booth and letting anyone else know what display materials you have to bring or would be able to purchase for the event.
I'm working to get the events posted as quickly as possible. I would love some ideas of events you've attended or would like to attend. That would be a HUGE help.

I would really love some feedback on what you think. Let me know how I can improve the site to make it more user-friendly.

Okay, so I didn't find this on Etsy. I'm cheating. I saw these on the Dwell site and I think they are worth a mention. They are pockets made from recycled plastic bottles. They can be used as flower beds, traditional planters, or can be hung from walls.
I can only assume from the photos that their product testing was done primarily in nudist colonies. I think I almost saw one of the girls' woolly pockets.
